Dental Implant Consultation

We want to make sure that you are clear and informed on all your dental implant options, which is why we dedicate consultations dedicated to implants. We want you to have a clearer idea on what to expect with the dental implant, ensure you are suitable for the best success and allow you to ask any questions abut treatment and recovery. Your consultation will introduce you to your dental implant expert, who will undergo a full medical history and understand your needs as well as the condition of your oral health for long term success.

X-Rays are usually taken to facilitate the discussion so that it is personal to you and informative. The consultation process should allow you to have a greater understanding of dental implants, alternative treatments, advantages and disadvantages of different modalities both implants and non implants, timing, procedures and costs making you better informed and putting you in a position to make the correct choices about the treatment plan that’s best for you.

Implant Retained Dentures

An implant-retained denture is a type of over- denture that is supported by and attached to implants in the jaw. A regular denture rests on the gums, and is not supported by implants. The denture clips on to the implant to keep it in place. An implant-retained denture is used when a person doesn’t have any teeth in the jaw, but has enough bone in the jaw to support implants. It is usual that at least 2 implants are needed to support the denture, but that will be decided depending on your particular needs.

Multiple Dental Implants

If you are missing several teeth, depending on where the missing teeth are, your surgeon can either offer multiple implants or offer alternative solutions such as implant-supported bridges. Restoring function due to the loss of multiple teeth is a life changing event. Our dental implant surgeons can provide several advantages using implants over other teeth replacement options. In addition to looking and functioning like natural teeth, options such as implant-supported bridges replace teeth without support from adjacent natural teeth.

In the long term, implants are aesthetic, functional and comfortable. Gums and bone can recede around a normal bridge or partial denture, leaving a visible defect. Resorbed bone beneath bridges or removable partial dentures can lead to a collapsed, unattractive smile. The cement holding bridges in place can wash out, allowing bacteria to decay teeth that anchor the bridge. In addition, removable partial dentures can move around in the mouth and reduce your ability to eat certain foods.

Single Arch Dental Implants

Your dental implant surgeon can offer options to replace teeth in upper or lower jaws through a full implant assessment. They may discuss options such as an implant retained denture or fixed implant bridges, this is an alternative to a full removable denture.

Several dental implants can be inserted along the jawbone to ensure adequate support for a fixed bridge. The process is very similar to a single of multiple implant procedure but does require much more planning, careful diagnosis and positioning before the treatment can commence. This is so that the correct amount of implants are placed in the correct positions so that a bridge can be sufficiently attached with the correct support and requirements.

Single tooth Implants

The problems that are brought about by missing teeth are numerous, and can have significant impacts on the overall quality of life. Most of those who have to deal with missing teeth are concerned with how long they will have to go through their daily lives without the presence of their teeth (or at least, the presence of the teeth replacements). Dental Implants are an ideal solution for replacing Missing Teeth, Bridges or Dentures and are the next best thing to natural teeth. They are a safe alternative treatment to the existing bridge or denture. From our boutique dental clinics, we treat patients from across the South East and South West of England.

Single Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement of a single missing tooth that looks, feels, and functions like natural teeth. We first make sure you are eligible to have such treatment by conducting a full consultation to check bone density and gums. Once we have confirmed the treatment is suitable for you, we invite you back in.

Sinus Lift and Bone Grafts

A sinus lift is surgery that adds bone to your jaw in the area of your molars and premolars. It's sometimes called a sinus augmentation. To make room for the bone, the sinus has to be moved upward, or 'lifted'. Our dental surgeons or maxillofacial surgeon does the sinus lift. Once the sinus is 'lifted', a surgical procedure called 'Bone grafting' replaces missing bone. This is all done to make a good area for a dental implant to be placed where the bone may have regressed over years.

Double Arch Dental Implants

If you have lost all your teeth, your dental surgeon can offer several options. The most common and affordable option is to have removable dentures. However, over time, as the gums change, the dentures don’t fit as well and gives frustration to patients who can’t chew and function as they normally do. As the bone is lost over time (as the bone needs teeth to serve to not recess), eventually drastic measures may have to be taken to offer function.

Over time, dentists have researched and successfully created implant systems to help full tooth loose. The most common is to have implant retained dentures where approximately 4-6 implants are placed in each jaw and then a customized denture is clipped onto the implants. This ensure the bones doesn’t loose over time and the dentures remain semi-permanent in a fixed position helping chewing and function as well as giving back taste.
